Resourcing

The task of resourcing your programs continues to challenge many recruiters. The role of Graduate Program Manager within an organisation is a complex and busy function. The nature of the position often results in a high turnover of employees within this role.

Replacing Program Mangers on an ongoing basis has a detrimental effect on your graduate initiatives – they lose consistency. In many instances when a new employee assumes this responsibility, they have their own ideas and methods, they make changes to the program, and often ignore the importance of looking longitudinally at past program results for the purposes of continuous improvement.

The process of graduate recruitment is an expensive business and an accurate return on investment cannot be ascertained without consistency over multiple years. The irony in this is that outsourcing critical components of your program may result in increased consistency and as a result, ongoing reductions in program costs.

Adequately resourcing your program for ongoing consistency and continuous improvement does not mean that an organisation loses control of the initiative – as an example, 3rd party providers can work at your premises or certain elements of the program can still be retained internally.

Resourcing will be a critical issue as competition for graduates’ increases and the need for additional resources is only short-term or temporary. GPA can assist by providing experienced graduate consultants to operate as an extension to your existing HR Team, or GPA can provide a flexible and modular Program Management solution to maintain your consistency, reporting, and ownership of the initiative.
